Sun, HP and IBM

One comment this morning about quotes : I looked at Sun, and it was downward, but I looked also at HP and IBM and they are not that better. It's not a good reason but I feel better to see that it's not only Sun going down but the other big ones too. I don't understand analysts and traders at all : Sun has a great momentum behind Solaris 10 and great technology with SPARC IV and Opteron systems, we've never been so wealthy on the plan, and despite that the stock market is pushing us down. It's a kind of black magic.

Surprising snow this morning !

Work from home and SF mental preparation

I worked from home today. For 2 reasons : first it was snowy, not that much but who knows, suddently there's 5cm and you're stucked at the office, second, I had some tough programming work to finish today, and when I'm at the office, it's a little bit difficult to isolate and there's always someone who needs you. So I decided to stay here and it worked : I finished the changed on one statistical projects, which shows telephony stats for our offices in Europe.

I had to send a break mail to stop people involved in different projects with me to stop asking me about update and if I didn't forgot about their stuff. Aaaargh ! I told them exactly what I thought and then I was more quiet to speed up my contribution.

But I am also concerned by my trip to San Francisco : I know that Arnold expects that I bring back some related to RAW and wristling, specially triple H his favorite superman. I want to see also if there are some electronic appliances interesting to buy there, like photo camera or the like. Well, I feel not very good also to let my little family here alone. I'll be in another time zone and I'm affraid that they could need my help when I'll be deep sleeping. Hopefully it's not long and they are already better french speaking thant before. Let forgot about bad things and keep focused on positive aspects....

Surprising snow

We have snow this morning. A little surprising, because this year, the winter was not that cold until this week. I guess I'm going to work from home this morning. I don't want to risk a slip : it's so unusual in that region that I suspect road equipement to be inadapted. And my tires are not very well suited for snow too. And I don't want to go to the office today, so it's a good opportunity. I have some scripts and web pages to test, so I can do it from here perfectly, as if I was in the office, really.

Arnold is sick

I met Arnold at the airport yesterday, cool ! But ihe is sick, very sick.
I must found a quick solution for him : nose is blocked and he is looking tired.
He said he never went to a specialist. May be that is something to try.
And yesterday, Fount has been to a demonstration of high school student. But they where only 4 from his college so now we have a problem with the scholl administration. Always got surprises with him !
I'm in a hurry, because I'm working only mornings this week, with almost the same workload than usual. I need to be at work before 8 AM, and that's not going to happen today !

It's Cold

I don't want to go outside to day because it's looking very cold in the street. Yesterday we got almost snow and the temps felt 10°C.

Arnold is arriving this afternoon from Toulon : huraaaaa !

Sasha is in Moscow !

Sasha went back to her moscow life, and we, are staying here in Clamart. I envy her. I hope that I'll really be able to manage a come back in Russia with Ryzhya, and stay there for ever !

Blog from the kitchen !

I'm bloggin from the kitchen, in front of my scrambled eggs ! the Wi-Fi is fantastic ! Freedom ! (hum, where are these new coffee beans from ??? )

Here is the moment : "I cannot see any hard drive" said the install program. I have a SATA disk and XP needs a driver diskette to be able to install on it ! Some patience and we unmounted a floppy drive from a old 386 system, and this was just a bad souvenir. Now all this is running the hell good !

Fountik very happy with the result too. don't think it was the last time we opened the side door of this little monster. I just do not think that we need a floppy !

and that's all, folks ! we won !

once in the box, there are a lot of cables to connect. not easy ...

then the CPU, an AMD barton 3000+, and the ventirad, silent tower from thermaltake, with a large fan too, all on the motherboard, a K7 pro 2 from leadtek with inVidia force 2 400 chipset...

Starting the mounting : first of all the power supply unit, a 350w with a blue lamp in the main switch button and a large silent fan...

My own PC is at home !

I received all the parts of my new PC today !!!!! it's going to be very hot today evening :-)

on duty

I'm on duty this week : this mean I must be ready to answer my mobile 24/7. today they called me twice, 3 hours work. That's not bad because there's a good compensation behind it. And Sasha is going to be with us on the 11th if I manage to buy her ticket !!!

a new home PC !

And as a final point of this foolish week, I just bought a new PC on the web : a real battle machine, to play last games and watch dvds and divx !!!!! Last time I bought a PC was back in 1991, in the previous century :-)

Super week-end

yesterday, Ed (buying vegetable and pizza for the coming week), then FNAC/Darty to buy a MP3 player for Fountik (he does know yet how to put songs in it :-) ), IKEA to fetch air filters for a kitchen appliance and a canceled together because a friend of us lost his mother.
today, we have again a planned together party, with different friends. it's at 7PM so all day long to kill time how I can : installing netbeans 4.1, java 1.5, posting on blogs, playing EE... all that is only fun !

nothing new

A post just to say that nothing new around. did you noticed how the weather is sweet these days ?
Last week-end we had a raclette party at home : I have some pictures but I didn't yet find time to post them. Be patient, they're coming up.

I'll be at work

I am going to work a little bit tomorrow, I have to reboot my server. That's going to shake-up saturday the good way.

Friday

I don't know what to do for the week-end. Last week-end was marked by the Nuit Blanche (that I didn't appriciate at all), but for the coming one, no idea. Looks to be very quiet at home, playing EE on PC, why not ?

Sad day

Very sad weather today in Paris.

Hu ! that was hard day work

I just begin to feel better. Ia bezumno want to sleep !
Tomorrow is friday so I can cope with it.
There's something very special this week-end in Paris : no it is not the Auto Mondial, it's the Nuit Blanche (white night).
All night long, there will be artists in the streets or other places, wide open to the visitors, with presentation of surprising performances, with light shows, sounds and music, sculptures, actor performances and so on.
It's the 3rd occurence : I didn't go there the previous ones, but this year I'm decided to bring Ryzhya to this event.

Hum, may be I know why I have such a hangover today :-)

Pizza and Ryzhya

Today is a good day : I plan to have a pizza at home for my lunch :-)
Yesterday I had a talk with Ryzhya around how I'm wrting this. In fact I'm making a mistake : this word that stands for "red haired" must be transcripted ryzhaya instead.
Well, I'll continue to write it like that, with the mistake, it's my conservative side :-)

Monday : the sky is grey

It's cold outside and grey like if the sky will fall on earth soon.
I'll have a tough week at work, preparing further my projects for year.
I don't feel very easy with what is waiting me there.
Well, let's think to something more funny, like shashliki : we have to setup the next session asap, and empire earth : I want to start another game, and we have to plan a visit to our friends in Reims.

Today we decided to try a genuine italian recipe of bolognese sauce.

I never tried something like that.

Surprise

I managed a big surprise for Fount. I told him that I was waiting the technician to upgrade the internet modem to a 2M model.
Then he waited for the visitor because I was at work.
The guy came and installed a cable tv decoder. It's a little increase of the monthly fee but now there are more than 100 channels :-)
Fount is fond of (really crazy really) of movies and serials. So this arrival is a big shock, a pleasant one of course.
I guess that my Kikouyou will love it too next time he will come to us.
I have a secret : there 1 year of Foot+ free bundled, and that's a bit for me too :-)

Arrrrrhhh these footballer kids !

I almost forgot that week-end is also the long run for these kids playing football (soccer) in the inner garden of our block.
I quite hate them because they have no respect at all for us, living around, and their parents are encourageing them in this behaviour.
I think that the whole society is loosing a lot by forgotting to learn kids a minimum of citizenship etiquette.
We little by little returning to the forest age, when the strongest was always right.

Datcha and Shashlik party

This is a shashlik party in our friend's datcha near Moscow, this summer.

This is my 100th post !!!!

And I am ready for this week-end : it's going to be a shashlik sunday, with the mangal appliance I bought in Moscow this summer.
The weather for the moment is very well suited for that party, keep my fingers crossed !

Autumn is back

It's official, automn is back. here in Paris suburbs, it means gray, some rain, wind, quite cold but not very cold. In one word, sad ! I hate this Paris style weather ! Beuuuuuuurk ! I'm living here forced because of the job being here too. I have only one hope, is to be able to move. The best move for me and Ryzhya is to move for Moscow, but Bretagne will fit for a while too.

Beer and white wine

Who can tell me if he's already experienced that beer and wine are nto well suite for each other. I feel quite bad after mixing these beverage !!!

The 100th visitor

Yesterday this blog passed the 100-visitor barrier. Hip hip hip - Huraaaaa !
I know that others have more than that every day, but for me it's not bad.
In reality, most of these visits are mine, when I'm updating the blog :-)
If you compare posts (98) and visitors (103), you'll understand that my blog is almsot never visited :-)
I blog just for my pleasure, and I'm trying to get some experience in the writing of small articles.
When I look at other blogs, what I feel as the worst defect of mine, is the lack of originality.
I like so much these blogs either very clean and glassy, either these bardachok when you think the author has not all his/her brain potential enable (but all is under control of course, and that is great !).
So, I have to improve dramatically if I want to find my blog as beautiful and interesting as these ones.

it started tonight, because we watched the US Open final between 2 russians, Kustnetzova et Dementieva, then I watched F1 Monza gd prix.
Ryzhya has her back hurting her and our plan to buy some shelves went short.

Workers of the world, Unite !

The face of the world will change radicaly, away from the brain illness of today business men lead by blindness of share holders, when a chinese worker and a US worker will stop to work while they have not the same level of social coverage than in France or in Sweden. The globalization of these product units for localized markets will explode when a tide from the workers side will bring them up to the consciousness of the similarity of their condition.

Cars for the future

I think that one feature that MUST be included in any project for a new car is that this car can't kill anybody, no matter hw much it costs ! One will say that even some words can kill. That's true for romantism, but in technology there's no place for that. Engineers and marketing people must think about that, as a slogan : "Buy this car which never kill anybody !". That will be even stronger than the green mark !

Meat !

Huow ! what a piece of meat I bought today : the cote de boeuf ! I did it on the grill ! It was really great ! To go with it, I cooked a roquefort sauce : onions, roquefort and cream. I choose a Moulin a vent for the wine, a strong Bourgogne ! Well, it was proznik zhevata !
